What is Rental Reimbursement?

As a result of a covered claim, Rental Reimbursement is an optional coverage that helps cover the cost of a rental car while your vehicle is being repaired. Usually, you can retain the rental automobile until your coverage limit expires or until your damaged vehicle is back on the road, whichever comes first. You should start looking for a replacement as soon as you find out your car is a total loss because the amount of approved rental time will be restricted if it is.

What is Covered?

Coverage for Rental Reimbursement may have daily and claim-specific limits.

Limits and coverage vary by carrier, for instance, a carrier will reimburse you up to $25 per day with a maximum of $750 per claim for your rental car if your rental limitations are $25 per day and $750 per claim, respectively.

What is not Covered?

Gas, mileage, extra coverage, and any security deposits demanded by the rental business are not covered by Rental Reimbursement.

The majority of rental car companies will request that you get extra insurance from them in order to protect the rented vehicle. Remember your auto policy’s comprehensive and collision coverage will typically carry over to your rental car while the accident damage to your automobile is being repaired. It is up to you to determine whether or not you wish to buy insurance from the rental company. Your claims adjuster can help you make this decision and offer further details.
